Medina is an art photographer from California, based in Lagos, Nigeria for the last 8 years. Through collage, photography and video, her work examines narratives both contemporary and timeless such as tradition, modernity, identity, globalisation, ethnocentrism, fashion, style, performance, imagination and truth. Medina seeks to avoid the conventionally held, bleak perspectives of Nigeria and Africa, so prevalent in Western perceptions. Her work has been featured in Smithsonian Magazine, Vogue Magazine, BBC, The Observer UK, the Times Literary Supplement (cover), CNN Africa, Chicago Tribune, Art Africa Magazine, Dazed, Refinery 29, Design Indaba, WePresent, Something We Africans Got, among other publications. Her work was collected by General Mills art collection in 2018.
